Composite bonding is a simple, affordable, non-invasive solution for patients that suffer with minor cosmetic dental issues.
At Advent Dental our expert clinicians will use the latest composite bonding techniques to help restore your smile and your confidence.
What is Composite Bonding?
Composite bonding – also known as composite artistry is carried out using a tooth coloured composite resin and can shape, smooth, fill and be moulded to correct a number of cosmetic irregularities.
Composite bonding can be used to effectively treat:
Chipped Teeth
Our experienced dentists use our specially formulated resin to carefully and expertly restore the appearance of chipped teeth for a smooth, flawless finish. Chipped teeth can be fixed in just one visit and not only help restore the look of the tooth but helps to prevent any further damage.
Gaps Between Teeth
For smaller gaps between teeth, our composite resin can be used to build outwards from the sides of the teeth to reduce the space and close the gaps. Larger or multiple gaps will often be unsuitable for composite bonding and instead would benefit from orthodontic treatments such as braces, Invisalign or even veneers.
Cracks
Cracks can often get worse over time if left untreated and tend to discolour and ruin the appearance of teeth. Composite bonding helps to minimise the appearance of cracks and prevent them from extending further or causing more damage to the tooth.
Exposed Roots
Exposed roots can cause a lot of pain and sensitivity for patients which is why a quick and effective treatment is usually required. Our composite bonding resin can be used to cover the exposed root and is moulded into place to seal the affected area.
Short / Uneven Teeth
Odd teeth that are shorter than others next to it or are uneven can stand out and make patients self-conscious. In a similar way to how gaps are closed with composite bonding, teeth can be lengthened and evened out to be in line and level with the other teeth for a straight, even smile.
What Are the Benefits of Composite Bonding?
Ideal for patients suffering with minor cosmetic issues – composite bonding is extremely versatile and can be used to improve the colour, shape, size and overall appearance of one or more teeth.
Some of the many benefits of composite bonding include;
- Non-invasive
- Full results can usually be achieved in just one appointment
- Requires no anaesthetic (unless it’s being used to treat a filling)
- The treatment is reversible and modifiable, so it can be stripped back or customised at a later date
- Suitable for patients of all ages
- Is a cheaper alternative for restorations to things such as veneers or crowns
Frequently Asked Questions About Composite Bonding
How long do the results last?
This will depend on the individual patients and how they take care of their teeth but results can be expected to last between 5-8 years.
Does it hurt?
Composite bonding is non-invasive and typically pain free.
After treatment do they require any follow up?
Teeth that have received composite bonding treatment do not need any special follow up or appointments and should be fine as long as patients use good common sense and oral hygiene. Brushing teeth twice a day, attending regular dentist appointments and avoiding the temptation to bite hard foods or things like pens and fingernails should help keep them intact. Composite may chip, stain and tarnish over time but usually imperfections can be buffed out very easily.
How much does composite bonding cost?
As with every dental treatment the total price for composite bonding treatment will depend on the individual patient, how much they need, how many teeth, what issue they are trying to solve and how long the appointment will take.
